Orders and quotes — how to order a part

From inquiry to order confirmation: what to prepare, what affects the cost, and how we handle prototypes, short runs and material.

Free quoteContact

What does working with ADJATECH look like step by step?

It starts with an inquiry: through the free quote form or by e-mail, you send the documentation and basic details — material, quantity and required date; you can also discuss the project by phone first. A technologist from the relevant department reviews the drawing, asks about details if anything is unclear and sends back an offer with a price and lead time. Once you accept the offer, we schedule production, and after final inspection we ship the finished parts by courier or prepare them for pickup in Janikowo.

Is the quote free of charge?

Yes. A quote prepared from the documentation you send is free and non-binding. If information is missing, such as the material, tolerances, or quantity, we will ask before giving you a price.

What affects the cost of an order?

The biggest factors are: the type and amount of material, machine time determined by the part's shape and required tolerances, the number of additional operations (e.g., cutting, milling, grinding, coating), and the preparation of programs and tooling. We incur this last cost once per batch, so the unit price drops as quantities increase. Our quote also covers any additional requirements, such as an inspection report.

Do you accept small orders and prototypes?

Yes. Prototypes, short runs, and repeat production all go through the same machine park and the same quality control. A prototype lets you verify the design and assembly before you order a larger batch, and we incorporate the feedback from its acceptance into the production documentation.

Can I order several operations in a single order?

Yes, this is one of the main advantages of ADJATECH. We perform laser cutting, milling, turning, saw cutting, grinding and polishing, engraving, and measurement at a single facility in Janikowo, and we can also apply special coatings within the same order. You get one contractor and one point of contact from file to finished part.

Do you supply the material for the order?

Yes. We select and order the material as part of the order: we keep some sheet and bar grades in stock, source the rest from suppliers, and confirm availability in the quote. If you prefer to work with your own material, we also accept customer-supplied material, and we check its grade, dimensions, and surface condition before machining.

Files for a quote: DXF, DWG, STEP, and PDF drawings

Which formats we accept for each technology, how to prepare a file, and what to do if you don't have a drawing.

Send files for a quoteAsk a technologist

What formats should I send the documentation in?

It depends on the technology: for laser cutting, DXF, DWG, or SVG; for milling and turning, a 3D model in STEP (or IGES) format and a 2D drawing in PDF or DXF with tolerances; for CNC router cutting, DXF, DWG, SVG, or STEP for 3D milling; for engraving, vector graphics (DXF, SVG, AI, PDF); for measurement, a drawing with tolerances and, if available, a STEP model. In every case, state the material and quantity.

I don't have a drawing. Can you still prepare a quote?

Yes. A sketch with dimensions, a photo or a physical sample is enough. Based on the sketch we will prepare the documentation, and a part without a drawing can be scanned and its CAD model recreated through reverse engineering.

How do I prepare a DXF file for laser cutting?

Draw the contour at 1:1 scale and in millimeters, with closed outlines, no duplicate lines, and no dimensions or frames on the cutting layer; convert text to curves. In the description, state the sheet grade and thickness and the quantity. If the file needs corrections, we will review it and propose changes before cutting.

How do I send large files or multiple attachments?

With the quote form you can attach several files at once. Larger sets — assembly models, point clouds, photo series — pack into a ZIP or RAR archive or send a drive link in a message to office@adjatech-company.com.

In what form will I receive measurement and 3D scanning results?

We deliver the inspection report as a PDF. For 3D scanning, the standard deliverable is an STL file, and after reverse engineering also a STEP or SLDPRT (SolidWorks) model, a deviation map, and 2D drawings. We agree on the scope of files before work begins.

03 · Materials and quality · 5 questions

Materials, quality, and ISO certificates

What we make parts from, how we inspect them and what the scope of our ISO 9001 and ISO 14001 certificates is.

CertificatesInspection of finished parts

What materials do you make parts from?

Black steel, stainless and acid-resistant steel, aluminum and duralumin, brass, bronze, copper, and titanium, and on the router and machining centers also plastics, wood, and MDF. We keep some grades in stock and source the rest to order; we confirm availability in the quote.

What material formats and part sizes can you handle?

The laser cuts sheet 0.5–25 mm thick from 1500×3000 mm and 1000×2000 mm sheets, the CNC router works on a 1500×2000 mm field, and the band saws take bars up to Ø250 mm and material up to 6 m long. The maximum dimensions of milled and turned parts depend on the specific machine — give the part size in your inquiry and we will select the machine. You can find ranges for individual sheet grades in the laser cutting materials table.

How does quality control work during production?

Inspection starts before the run: we measure the first piece in full and start the batch only after it is approved. During production, the operator checks dimensions at the workstation, and we perform a final inspection before shipping. For toleranced dimensions we use a Mitutoyo CMM coordinate measuring machine, and for freeform geometry a Scanology Simscan 42 3D scanner with a stated accuracy of 0.02 mm.

Do you hold ISO certificates?

Yes. Adjatech Metalworking holds ISO 9001:2015 (quality management) and ISO 14001:2015 (environmental management) certificates issued by TÜV Rheinland Polska, valid until 08.06.2029. The scope of certification covers the production of aluminum, bronze and brass castings and lettering. Scans of the documents are on the Certificates page.

Will you include inspection documents with the delivery?

Yes, if you request it in your inquiry. We include a PDF inspection report with the batch, containing CMM measurement results for the specified features or a deviation map from a 3D scan. We agree on the scope of inspection, e.g. first article, a sample from the batch, or selected dimensions on every part, together with the quote, because it affects the price.

04 · Lead times and delivery · 4 questions

Lead times, delivery and personal pickup

How we set the completion date, how we ship parts anywhere in Poland, and when you can pick up your order in Janikowo.

Contact and directionsFree quote

When will I know the completion date for my order?

We give the date in the quote. We calculate it for each specific order, based on the technology, number of operations, batch size and material availability, which is why we do not publish a single fixed lead time. If your project has a firm deadline, state it in your inquiry: we will schedule production for that day or propose partial deliveries.

How do you deliver finished parts?

We ship finished parts with a proven courier company to any address in Poland, protected against damage in transit. We give the delivery method and cost together with the quote, and if you prefer, you can pick up your order in person at our facility.

Can I pick up my order in person?

Yes. Our facility is located in Janikowo at ul. Gnieźnieńska 26, just outside Poznań. Personal pickup is available during business hours, Monday to Friday, 8:30–16:30, preferably after confirming that your order is ready.

Can you perform measurement or 3D scanning at our company?

Yes, when the part is not easy to transport: we scan machines, molds and steel structures on site in your plant, anywhere in Poland, using a mobile 3D scanner. CMM measurements require stable conditions, so we perform them at our measurement station in Janikowo.

Sheet metal laser cutting: where to start

Applications, cut edge quality, comparison with other methods and what to include in your inquiry. You will find thicknesses, materials, prices and more answers on the laser cutting page.

Laser cutting: service overviewMore questions about laser cutting

What parts do you laser cut most often?

Most often machine and structural components: mounting plates, brackets, flanges, ribs, guards and housing parts, as well as nameplates and decorative parts. Laser cutting works wherever the contour is complex and the part has to be made without costly tooling, for both prototypes and series production.

Does the edge after laser cutting require additional finishing?

Usually not: with well-chosen parameters the edge is smooth and burr-free, and the blank is ready for assembly, welding or painting. If you need a higher surface grade, the part can go through grinding or polishing in our grinding shop.

How does laser cutting differ from plasma and waterjet cutting?

A fiber laser gives a narrow kerf, an accurate contour and a small heat-affected zone — it works best on thin and medium sheet. Plasma can be cheaper on very thick plate, but leaves a wider and less even edge, and a waterjet does not heat the material but cuts more slowly. At ADJATECH we cut sheet with a fiber laser, and bars and profiles with a band saw.

What should I include in a laser cutting inquiry?

Sheet grade and thickness, the quantity of each part, whether we supply the material or it is customer-supplied, and any requirements for further processing, e.g. deburring, grinding, engraving or coating. Add a DXF, DWG or SVG file with the contour. A complete inquiry shortens the path to a quote, because the process engineer does not need to ask about the basics.

06 · CNC machining · 5 questions

CNC machining: milling, turning, router and saw cutting

The machine park of the machining department, selection of cutting technology and repeatability across batches.

CNC machiningFree quote

What CNC machines do you have in your machine park?

3- and 5-axis machining centers, conventional milling machines, CNC automatic lathes and conventional lathes, a CNC router with a 1500×2000 mm working field, and automatic band saws. Machine numbers and specifications are given on the milling and turning pages.

Which cutting technology should I choose for my part?

Shape and material decide. Rotational parts such as shafts, sleeves and pins are made on lathes and automatic lathes; solid parts with pockets, flat faces and holes on machining centers; plates and sheets of wood, plastics and aluminum on the CNC router; and sections of bar, tube and profile on band saws. You do not have to choose yourself: our process engineer selects the technology and operation sequence based on your drawing.

Can you make a complete part, from bar or sheet to finished component?

Yes. For example: we cut bar stock to length on a band saw, turn it on an automatic lathe, mill grooves and flats on a machining center, grind, mark, and finally measure. We laser-cut sheet metal and then mill toleranced holes and threads in it. The part never leaves our shop between operations, and a single contractor is responsible for the final dimensions.

How do I prepare a drawing for CNC machining?

On the 2D drawing, mark toleranced dimensions, fits, surface roughness, and thread designations, and in the title block, specify the material grade and the required finish or coating. A STEP model speeds up programming, but the drawing is the acceptance document: we inspect the part against it before shipping.

Will parts from subsequent deliveries be identical?

Yes. After the first order, we keep the program, tooling, and machining parameters, and for every repeat order we measure the first piece before the whole batch is run. As a result, parts from subsequent deliveries have the same dimensions, even if there is a long gap between them.

07 · Finishing and coatings · 4 questions

Grinding, polishing, engraving, and special coatings

Surface finishing, marking, and coatings, performed after machining as part of the same order.

Special coatingsFree quote

What surface finishes do you offer?

Matte and satin grinding, polishing to a gloss or mirror finish, vibratory polishing of small parts, and surface preparation for painting, chrome plating, and gold plating. We work on belt, disc, and CNC grinders, semi-automatic machines, and robotic polishing systems.

How do I choose a finish for the part's operating conditions?

Start with the function of the part. A component exposed to moisture and outdoor conditions usually needs a coating: powder coating, chrome, or PVD. A surface that mates with a seal or bearing needs grinding to a specified roughness. A visible, decorative part needs polishing or a satin finish. Describe in your inquiry where the part will operate, and we will propose a solution.

What coatings do you apply?

Powder coating, decorative and technical chrome plating, 24-karat gold plating, PVD and PTFE coatings, and ceramic coatings. Before applying a coating, we prepare the surface in our own grinding shop, because the coating reproduces the condition of the substrate.

In what order are machining, marking, and coating performed?

The sequence is set by our process engineer. Machining and grinding usually come before coating, because the coating reproduces the condition of the substrate, and we do the marking before or after coating, depending on whether the mark is to be in the metal or in the coating layer. When all operations are in one order, we avoid damaging the finished surface in later stages.

08 · Measurement and 3D scanning · 4 questions

CMM measurement, 3D scanning, and reverse engineering

Dimensional inspection on a CMM, 3D scanning with a deviation map, and recreating parts without documentation.

3D measurement and scanningInspection of finished parts

What is the difference between CMM measurement and 3D scanning?

The Mitutoyo CMM measures selected features by contact: toleranced dimensions, hole positions, flatness, and coaxiality. A 3D scanner captures the entire surface without contact and lets you compare it with the CAD model on a deviation map. The two methods often complement each other.

How can 3D scanning be combined with making a replacement part?

This is a common scenario at ADJATECH: we scan a worn or damaged part, recreate its CAD model, make a new part on our machines (cutting, milling, or turning), and finally compare it with the model. A single team handles the entire process, from scan to finished part.

Can independent measurement help resolve a complaint?

Yes. We measure the disputed part against the drawing, and the PDF report shows which features are within tolerance and which exceed it. You can pass this report to the supplier or customer as an inspection document, regardless of who made the part.

Do you measure according to the drawing and the customer's requirements?

Yes. We prepare the measurement plan based on your drawing and specification: we agree on the features to be measured, form and position tolerances, datums, and the scope of the report before work begins. If your customer requires a specific scope of inspection, we will include it in the plan.
